The Sutton’s Story

Bonnie and Herb Sutton have lived a full and joyous life. Through their philanthropy, they intend to share their joy with others, helping as many people as possible with impactful gifts.

Generosity Thrives | Bonnie and Herb Sutton

Herb embodies the spirit of the “self-made man” ideal. He grew up in an orphanage, joined the military and served his country. Later he grew numerous businesses and built a prosperous life for his family.

Bonnie and Herb share a special place in their hearts for helping children. As they learned more about Asante’s unique role as the region’s home for highest-level care for infants, children and families, they were inspired. Together, they planned to ensure that their support for children’s health care will continue, even after their lifetimes.

In 2023, the Suttons shared their plans with Asante Foundation: a significant portion of their total estate has been dedicated to support children’s health care at Asante. This gift became a turning point in the AsanteForward campaign. In gratitude, the healing garden at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, home of the Olsrud Family Women’s and Children’s Hospital, will permanently be known as the “Sutton Healing Garden.”

Like the babies and children who will be helped as a result of their thoughtful donation, the garden will thrive.

“There is incredible power in doing good. The golden rule should be more than a rule – it should be a purpose.”
