The Halletts’ Story

“We’ve found community here—both from our home friends who visit and from the family we’ve discovered within The Family House. It feels like home. If you can’t be at home, this is the next best place.”

Grateful for community

Since 2012, Crescent City couple Jeanine and Joe Hallett have relied on The Family House whenever they need medical care at Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass. Their first stay was during Joe’s surgery, but over the years, the Halletts have discovered a true home away from home at the hospitality house.

“It’s wonderful to have a place to stay, but to stay someplace where people so genuinely care about you – it makes all the difference. The staff treat you like family and they were our new family, too. It’s been a life changer because we’ve really needed the support the past several years.”

Joe was the first to be diagnosed with cancer. Shortly after completing four weeks of radiation treatment at Spears Cancer Center, Jeanine received her own diagnosis: breast cancer. They knew what that meant—more time away from home. Thankfully, they knew exactly where they could stay: The Family House.

For Joe and Jeanine, The Family House has meant more than just lodging; it’s meant community. During their extended stays, they’ve welcomed family and friends to visit, celebrated holidays, shared dinners and game nights with other guests and built friendships with those who truly understand what they’re going through.

“Knowing all the people who have donated to make The Family House available, you just can’t thank them enough. There isn’t an amount too small, or too big. It’s just such a wonderful thing.”

“There is incredible power in doing good. The golden rule should be more than a rule – it should be a purpose.”
