Susan and Alan Binette | Generosity Innovates

Having spent nearly four decades partnering with or working for Asante, the Binettes have seen firsthand the impact philanthropy has on health care in the community. The two have been instrumental in creating a formal Resiliency Program across Asante, and believe in the effectiveness of programmatic support.

Along with working as an OBGYN provider and delivering babies at Asante, Dr. Binette served on the Asante Board of Directors for nine years, with the responsibility of Chair three of those years. Susan is an RN and was employed at the bedside and in various leadership roles within Asante before retiring in 2016. Susan continues her volunteer service with Asante Foundation as a Board Member and is currently serving as Chair.

Their firsthand experience as frontline caregivers give them the confidence that the initiatives reflected in the AsanteForward campaign, specifically those in relation to the new pavilion and behavioral health, will dramatically change the medical landscape in Southern Oregon.

In 2023, Alan and Susan designated a $5 million estate gift, naming the new Binette Family Birth Center on the fifth floor of the Olsrud Family Women’s and Children’s Hospital at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center.

“It means everything to have the programmatic support and the bricks and mortar to do good work…there is a lot of innovation going on at Asante.” —Susan Binette

“I think the community can benefit from [the pavilion] long term and it’ll be a focal point for further growth.”

“There is incredible power in doing good. The golden rule should be more than a rule – it should be a purpose.”
