The Hoxie’s Story
Leaving a Legacy
“Deb and I both came from families that lived paycheck to paycheck – we had to build what we have and I’m real proud of that.” – Dave Hoxie
Dave and his wife Deb believe in seizing the moment and are both fiercely passionate about supporting local services in their community, like health care. Though the couple loves to travel around the country in their RV, Southern Oregon will always be home.
Ashland born and raised, Dave Hoxie learned the importance of giving back from his own parents – his family didn’t have much, but what they did have, they shared.
The couple believes “no child should have to suffer,” and Dave fondly remembers his years volunteering with grassroots nonprofits and how he even used to take sick kids on snowmobile adventures. Deb is active with local philanthropic efforts through P.E.O. International and is also passionate about supporting animal welfare charities. Both Dave and Deb recognize the importance of keeping high quality women’s and children’s health care close to home, and they appreciate Asante for continuing to grow and adapt to the community’s needs.
Dave became involved with the Asante Foundation through his work with the Gwin Samuel Butler Memorial Trust, and after learning more about the new Olsrud Family Women’s and Children’s Hospital at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, he and Deb began discussing how they could give back. Both Dave and Deb had full careers and retired with comfortable pensions and retirement funds, so they decided to explore giving through their estate. Dave told his children he wanted to include Asante in their will and, with their support and encouragement, they made it official!
“If you are considering including Asante in your estate plans, talk to each other, talk to your financial advisor, talk to your family – and think about how you want to make a difference once you’re gone.” – Deb Hoxie
By giving what they can, Dave and Deb are proud to be able to support what matters most to them. They are confident their gift will impact the lives of thousands of children and families for years to come.

“Every donation makes a difference, even the ‘small’ ones. If you can contribute to an organization that you trust to address the needs of future generations, like Asante, you should do it.”
—Deb Hoxie
