In honor of National Heart Month, we want to share some exciting updates with you!

Earlier this month, the new addition at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center opened featuring state-of-the-art surgical suites and a brand-new Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. Seeing patients and providers utilizing the space is truly remarkable, and we can’t help but reflect on our community and the generosity that helped Asante achieve this historic milestone. Thank you!

Grateful for Empathy
At just 38, Nic faced a surprising, life-altering diagnosis which led to open-heart surgery at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. Watch his journey and how his family’s gratitude inspired them to give back.

Pavilion “firsts”

  • Patients moved into the new CVICU on Saturday, February 3
  • The first open-heart surgery was performed on Monday, February 5
  • Asante recently surpassed 900 Transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedures since the program began in 2015! Dr. Dauterman performed the first TAVR in one of the new Hybrid ORs on Thursday, February 8.

The imaging equipment is state-of-the-art. The images are really clear, there’s more space…it’s going to be really nice for the community and for us.– Dr. Kent Dauterman, Cardiologist, Southern Oregon Cardiology

It’s definitely a very unique area and hospital in terms of the patients we take care of. Both the volume and the complexity of the patients really rivals university settings and tertiary care centers, but it’s still in a community setting with that sort of a feel and the teamwork we have with both cardiology and the rest of our team. It has the best of both worlds. Now, having state-of-the-art facilities brings us up to that level as well.” – Dr. Danielle Jacks, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Asante

What’s next for cardiac care?
Starting in October 2024, an 18-month expansion and renovation project will begin to improve accessibility to Asante’s award-winning cardiac services. The success of this initiative hinges on the support from our community. This phase encompasses:

  • Five new catheterization labs will be built in the former surgical suites on the first floor at Asante Rogue Regional. This will also include “shelled space” for an additional three cath labs for future expansion.
  • A new Cardiovascular Recovery Unit will be built on the third floor of the hospital, where critical care used to be, and expand from 14 rooms to 27. This unit will be located on the same floor as the CVICU.
