The challenge:

More than 2,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed each year in Southern Oregon, a figure that continues to grow, along with the population.

Asante Regional Cancer Care Services

The solution:

Thanks to community support, the new Mary and Dick Heimann Cancer Center in Medford and expanded Helen K. Spears Cancer Center in Grants Pass opened in January 2022. Before this, patients had to travel to dozens of locations for all the necessary scans, lab work, doctor visits, and chemo and radiation treatments. Now all this care happens under one roof, along with support services like social work, nutrition, nurse navigation and massage. The Heimann Cancer Center is also home to a growing cancer research program. Thousands of people helped make these beautiful, leading edge facilities a reality.

What’s next:

Now it’s going to take all of us to fulfill their potential. Philanthropic support will continue to help in the following ways:

  • Attract and retain top physicians
  • Train expert nursing staff
  • Launch innovative programs
  • Expand partnerships
  • Enhance patient support and amenities
  • Provide community education and outreach
  • Help patients in need

How you can help:

Our goal is to raise at least $10 million toward construction of these facilities. Once we achieve that goal, it’s going to take the whole community to fill their potential. Charitable gifts of every size make a difference.
