The second annual Walk for Hope is on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Mary and Dick Heimann Cancer Center! This free community event brings cancer survivors and caregivers from Southern Oregon and Northern California together in a celebration of hope and a special time to honor the loved ones who are no longer with us. The 1.5-mile walk ends in a finish-line party with live music by The Brothers Reed, food trucks, treats and activities for kids. Those who register by September 22 will receive a free commemorative T-shirt.

This year, all who wish to attend are invited to begin the day with a celebration of life reception for Dick Heimann, who passed away just before last year’s inaugural Walk for Hope. This informal reception welcomes all who remember Dick to gather with his family and celebrate his legacy of generosity. Mr. Heimann was a well-known business leader and philanthropist. For decades, he and his wife Mary quietly supported many important causes that have improved the lives of others. In 2021, they gave an extraordinary gift to establish the new cancer center. Hundreds of community members joined them, helping build the Heimann Cancer Center and expand the Helen K. Spears Cancer Center in Grants Pass. The Heimanns’ gift also supported the new infusion clinic for children with cancer and other serious illnesses that is being built inside the Olsrud Women’s and Children’s Hospital at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. Both adult and pediatric cancer programs are supported by donations and sponsorships through the Walk for Hope.
