Expanding compassion: Philanthropy to fuel growth of
Three Rivers Medical Center’s hospitality house

Community volunteer group donates $50,000 in support

MEDFORD, OR (Feb. 13, 2025) – An expansion plan is underway to double the capacity of The Family House, Asante’s hospitality house in Grants Pass that provides lodging for patients traveling to Three Rivers Medical Center for care. The expansion will increase capacity from seven guest rooms to 14.

“Doubling the size of The Family House will enhance the lives of our patients, ensuring that those with limited support and resources can receive the care they need without undue hardship of finding a place to stay,” says Patrick Sharp, CEO of the hospital. “As we expand services at Three Rivers Medical Center, we know the increased importance of this resource for our patients who travel from the coast and other parts of our region for their health care.”

The Family House was a resource for 283 patients and their families in 2024. The $3 million expansion project will be 100% funded by community donations.

Recently, the hospital’s independent volunteer group, Three Rivers Medical Center Auxiliary, donated $50,000 to support this initiative. The Auxiliary, known as the “warm and welcoming heart of Three Rivers,” has contributed over $918,000 since 2000. They support the hospital through fundraising and volunteer efforts. Evergreen Federal Bank also pledged their support with a $50,000 gift in December.

“Since 2008, The Family House has been a pillar of support for so many, and philanthropy is the reason it opened and continues to operate. This is just the beginning. We need our community’s support to make this a reality,” says Andrea Reeder, Senior Vice President and Chief Philanthropy Officer at Asante. “Together, we can ensure that more patients and families have a comfortable and affordable place to rest their heads as they navigate their medical journeys.”

In addition to guest rooms, The Family House offers five RV spaces, a common living room and dining area, kitchen, laundry room and backyard with a playground for children.
